http://www.tabletennisengland.co.uk/news/donic-legends-tour-heads-to-london-with-waldner-and-persson Despite some early morning concerns about the weather, Saturday's Rusthall Fete was bathed in sunshine from start to finish with temperatures in the mid to high 20's. Attendance was high as was interest in the table tennis being played on Rusthall's shiny new outdoor table.
WKTTA players, Dave Cowlen, Steve Day and Mark Romano provided the entertainment whilst also encouraging visitors to "give it a try". Many did, and quite a few, were also interested to hear about our Sunday Morning Sessions in Tonbridge. We are hopeful that we may have found a least a couple of players for the future. Fun, though, was the name of the game and despite butterflies occasionally causing an hindrance to Dave, to say nothing of the wind, everybody enjoyed themselves. It is with some sadness that we heard today that one of our Vice Presidents, Harry Hart, recently passed away. Although Harry stopped a while ago, he was a keen table tennis player and supporter of the league. In his latter years, bowls became his main sport.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
Local league players from the Byng Hall club, Owe Karlsson, Jurate Brazaityte, Jas Ould and Tom Windram all played in the prestigious Heritage Oil Open which was held over 3 days at the K2 Sports Centre in Crawley on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 4th, 5th and 6th July. Kent was well represented with top youngsters Danny Lawrence, Lewis Gray, Daniella Gray and Luke Savill also playing. Chris Bartram defied the years by qualifying for the knock out stages of the main event as well as the Vets Competition. |
